About Us
Sunergeo Biological Farming began in 2018, raising organically grown vegetables and pasture raised eggs in Tehachapi. Since then, we have been working diligently to develop a new, farm direct market, providing Tehachapi with vegetables, fruit, cut flowers, and pasture raised eggs. All of these items are produced using deep organic growing methods that go beyond the run of the mill "organic" produce found in most grocery stores, which is why we have chosen the term "biological farming."
"Biological" farming is the term used in Europe rather than "organic farming" and involves much stricter adherence to natural farming methods, including reduced soil disturbance, cover cropping, beneficial insect habitat, and fostering a healthy soil environment. With these and other biological approach practices in place, the result is produce that is extra flavorful, nutrient rich, fresher and longer lasting than that available in grocery stores.
Who We Are
GERALD
Gerald has 40 years’ experience as an agronomist and pest control advisor, including the last 28 years working
with Cal-Organic Farms, which is one of the largest and well known organic vegetable farms in the U.S. He is a known expert in organic farming practices and served a 5 year term on the USDA’s National Organic Standards Board. He owned and operated a tree fruit and vegetable farm in Tehachapi during the 1990’s and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Horticulture.
SHARON
Sharon is currently a credentialed science teacher working with secondary students in Tehachapi. She handles much of the sales side of the farm and is very experienced raising chickens. She is the farm’s chicken doctor and might be called a chicken ‘whisperer’, but not really. She prefers to sing to them.
AUDREY
Audrey is a licensed nurse working in the medical field. Audrey is active with the farm, serving customers at the various Farmers Market days and helping with marketing our produce.
Trade school coming soon!
In the works beginning in 2021, Sunergeo Farm will be offering biological farming trade schooling to interested and motivated individuals who would like to learn how to start their own farm. The program intends to teach a broad based program with training in vegetable and fruit production, livestock husbandry, as well as direct to consumer marketing practices. Students will get hands on experience as paid apprentices, with a modest tuition charge applied in order to attract only committed applicants.
